Education for students here is completely free, with Tamil as the medium of instruction. Apart from education the school also provides free nutrition, medical programs and scholarship for meritorious children. The school provides access to the computer lab which bolsters our curriculum.
Since when has the Olcott Centre been operational?
Deepam has been conducting classes at the Olcott centre since June 2008. We are currently in our third year of operation.
Student Profile
Deepam, at the moment, teaches about 50 students of the seventh grade. However, there is a proposal to extend the program to all students between sixth and ninth grades soon.
Deepam team
Ram Vishwanathan, Shankar Narayan Basu and KK are a few of our volunteers dedicated to the Olcott center and have been organizing classes ever since commencement in 2008.
Support of the school administration
The Olcott school administration has been extremely supportive of our endeavors to reach out to the children. From 20 students in 2008-09, the class strength has now grown to 50. In fact, the school administration is the backbone of all our efforts at Olcott.
